Is it really a life?

This post is a follow up to the picture posted  below. As I stated in my first post there are many problems with society. One of which is the worth of life. In this case abortion. Yeah yeah I know we don't want to talk about this topic, but I deem it an important issue in today's society. Why is it that no matter where you go you still manage to find that one pregnant teenager. Even back where I'm from with a high percentage of Latter Day Saints, and a school with decent morals you still cant avoid it. In fact I don't think my whole lower class men career did we have one pregnant teen. I could be wrong, but chances are I just didn't notice; that is until senior year where two girls I specifically knew ended up pregnant at the beginning of the year. So what happened to the two girls children. I don't know specifically, but I dont believe they were aborted, and one of the girls mentioned when her baby was due.

So was getting an abortion a respectable choice. I would have to say no. As a Latter Day Saint (A.K.A. Mormon) I believe that abortion is only appropriate in the cases of rape, incest, and if the mothers life is in danger. As for two stupid teens who could not wait should go through with it due to the fact that they made an mistake, so why should the child be terminated for it. It doesn't seem fair. Now life isn't fair, but I don't see why that child should not be given the chance to live for his/ her parents mistakes. If a married couple was to have an unexpected pregnancy I would have to say they should have to deal with it too, but then again there are condoms, and birth control pills. In that case why didn't the mother take them in the first place?

There is another argument going around that just makes no sense. In some states you can have the baby aborted at any time before its birth. Other states it has to be within a certain point, or no luck. The argument as followed is that the baby is technically not alive before birth, and with that I call bull shit. Yes I know a Mormon just swore, but seriously people what the hell? The heart of a baby is pumping after six weeks of a pregnant time lot. Last time I checked a heart beat meant a living creature. So in the case of that I would be fine with a person getting an abortion before the six week period since the baby is still forming form a cluster of cells. Weather it is possible for it to be aborted at this early stage, but if any time was to be alright I would think only then. And if that is not enough proof then they have actually placed a camera inside the uterus to see a living moving baby. The heart beats, it moves, and kicks, its only growing to the point when it could survive outside the womb.

I know you don't want to hear this, but I believe that the babies soul enters after the six week period. I truly due. If you think about it what right does the parent have to that life inside her. Unless she was forced into sexual conduct, or if a pair of inbreeds go at it, or the mother could very well die then I don't see what right there is at all. That cheerleader, and Football player should of thought twice. In the end there are more alternatives than abortion. I have  an aunt and uncle on both sides of the family that adopted a child. One of them adopted two within the same month. There a plenty of families waiting to adopt. Why waste a life? I don't know what your thoughts are, but I think life is a precious thing. To not even give a small child the chance to grow into this world is just wrong.

Irony at its best.

Gimme gimme never gets

Living in downtown Salt Lake City you tend to see a lot of homeless people. I mean a lot of homeless people. So many that it bothers me. Not that I have predigests feelings to the lesser fortunate. I know that times are tough, and that some of them really need a little help. But if there is one thing I've noticed is the homeless people that are not homeless. How can you tell? You sort of just can. Often times they don't look homeless at all. Or sometimes they make themselves look a little to homeless. If you go near pioneer park you will find the people walking around with shopping carts full of their stuff. For the most part I believe these people to be truly homeless. You see someone sleeping under a stair way you got a yes to that as well, but then you have the people who just sit outside the temple, or mall and expect people to give them money.

During the summer, and fall months I notice a particular person standing sitting outside the City Creek mall. Some days he's in a wheel chair, others on the ground, often in a lawn chair, and once used one of those green fake plastic Irish hats you see around St. Patrick day in order to collect money. He sits there with some sob story sign, and people give him money. These kind of people just piss me off. There is a problem in this country, and I'm begining to believe throughout the world, that people just expect to have things given to them. Its bad enough that our govermnt trys to rip us off with crap such as Obama Care, but to have some jack ass sit around and have people throw money at them is just stupid.

There is another man that gets money from outside this very mall, but do you now what he does? He has a sign that says no sob story, no problems, just good pinging. He sits outisde, and play the bag pipes. No I would be willing to give this man a little money. He's a street performer, not some guy trying to rip me off.

So be careful out there. If a guy asking or money seems suspicious give him a few cents, or nothing at all. Don't be worried about being insulted, because if they do then they don't deserve it anyways, and if they don't take it because it's not enough money then you know what they truly are. Pay attention to paterns, changes in story, and trust your senses.

Lastly don't be afraid to give a little in the end. A "God bless you" always means at least some good for sure.

Text books are inefective

Being a college student you have to of course read you text books. My only problem is that text books dont teach you crap. Sure they may have definitions, and may teach a conept, but how often do they actaully teach us something, or better yet actaully tell us how to do it. Math books never seem to teach you where things go, how its done, and anything else that could help. My accounting book has examples, but they dont teach me how I am supposed to get to that point. Its just a picture showing what it looks like, not how to actaully do it.

It seems almost all text books are like this. During my past semester, and in my current one I learned more in class, or from being tutored than reading the text book. Infact the reason I have to go to tutoring almost everyday is because the text book does nothing to explain what the hell I'm supposed to do. So why dont profecors give us these books. Well I have two ideas why.

First of all they are too lazy to actually do any of the teaching themselves, or that's the only way they know how to do it. In one of my classes last semester I learned so much from my entrepreneurship that I knew more about it than any other subject, and he did not give  us a text book, nor asked us to take notes.  Why did this work so well? Because an engaged conversation works better than any other form of learning in my belief. Sure I learned a lot from one of my lecture classes, but not as much as the one that actually had us talk with the teacher.

There is nothing wrong with reading books, or listening to others, but I believe to truly master something; to truly learn from it in the perfect way you need to assert yourself to it, and/or get first hands on it.

Patriotism. A dying breed

Now as an American I love my country. Personally I think it's he best country in the world, or at least once was. This country has its share of problems. Many of them form our government, and many of them made us the American people. Why are we in this mess. Well I could tell you about how stupid my president is, or how the liberals are ruining this country. Instead I decided to point out a problem we as a whole nation have that could be part of the problem. Many, if not most, have lost their sense of patriotism. Sure we all light fireworks on the Fourth of July, and have our parades, but what ever happened to some of the other things we used to do. What ever happened to saying the pledge of a legions in the morning as we start class? What ever happened to God bless America? Why was it that I was the only person to place my hand over my heart at the Fourth of July parade last year as my nations flag passed by. I can still remember looking into that soldiers eyes. They seemed sad, but I think I made him feel better. With solute from him, and a nod from me he passed on. Still no one placed their hands on their hearts further down the street.

Have we as Americans forgotten what that flag represents. It's not just our freedom, but also the countless lives that gave up their blood, sweat, tears, time, and even their very lives just so we can be where we are today. Now I know that my country has had some rough times. In Vietnam American soldiers would shoot even small children, but not all soldiers are like that. No most of our nations troops are not. Most of them are truly frighting for our country, and if I didn't have mild cerebral palsy I would have already joined part of our armed forces. If it were not of my country Hitler could have still had a chance, South Korea would be under Communistic control, and the world would be in more danger if it weren't for us being in the middle east fighting a group of extremists who wants Isreal dead, as well as us and many other countries, yet we fight it nearly alone. My country sacrifices so much the world, not just me. And I will continue showing my respects to my nation as long as I live, or if God forbid, it falls, and it's people forget entirely. Only then those thoughts of respect would become honoring a memory of what this nation once was.

We as Americans need to rise up. We need to make things right. We need to support our troops, say the pledge of a legions, and continue to strive to make our nation great again. It's not too late.

What I hate about society

Now don't get me wrong. I'm no crazed anti social who hates society. In fact I rather love it, but its a love hate relationship. Despite that I should rather say I hate what society has become. Both here in the United States, and out into the rest of the world. We as human being just cant seem to admit to our mistakes, and fix them. Sometimes we don't always realize them. Things such as waiting to have sex, allowing marijuana to become legal, and thinking that we should be allow to do what ever we do as long as no one else in hurt by it. This has become a growing plague on our modern world. We expect to have total freedom, and yet expect those to be punished. Now I don't know about you guys, but I think that morals in this world are a dying thing. We keep trying to make ourselves appear right but we never think to decide is it the right thing? I hear people say that morals are useless, and just hod us back, but look at it this way.

If we stop deciding what is right, and what is wrong what will that do to our world. Teenagers getting pregnant left, and right, stoners crowding our children, gays destroying the natural family. What about allowing child molesters just have their way with children. Now that may sound a bit extreme, but still with no morals we will end up just like Rome, and look were they ended up. I think most of the worlds problems could be solved all a bit easier if we just  sat down, and thought what is moral, what is right, what is the most effective way. Sadly the world try's to take short cuts, or try;s to justify their mistakes with false happiness. It doesn't matter if you American, French, German, Japanese, Jewish, Mormon, Catholic, Black, Mexican, Islamic, or any other race or religion. Hell even if your and atheist. We as human beings have a duty to decide what is the right thing to be done. That is what separates us as too wild animals.
